A Being There

The piece “Un Ser Ahí” invites a profound reflection on the human condition and its constant search for meaning. Within it, the human being engages in an internal philosophical debate, confronting their “self” in relation to nature against the possibility of a more fulfilled “self” within a virtual reality. 

This inquiry raises the question of whether the essence of humanity lies in its connection to the natural world—with its biological roots and physical interaction with the environment—or whether, on the contrary, the true meaning of existence is found within a digital construct that promises to free it from the limitations of body and time. 

The dilemma, echoing Heidegger’s ideas on being-in-the-world, intensifies when considering that “being there” (Dasein) might exist not only in tangible reality but also within the virtualities presented to it—thus redefining what it truly means to be “alive.”
